Formidable début pour l'intégrale des symphonies de Beethoven par l'Orchestre national, Kurt Masur a transfiguré sa nouvelle formation dont plusieurs pupitres (les bols, les cors) se sont surpassés. Seules les cordes, bien que précises et homogènes, n'ont pas toujours une sonorité séduisante. Surtout, Masur a caractérisé avec intuition chacune des trois premières symphonies au programme ce jour-là: bondissante et juvénile, la Première, paraissait clore un espiègle XVIIIe siècle; avec des accents plus charnus (mouvement lent tourmenté, scherzo enfiévré), la Deuxiéme ouvrait sur un romantisme épuré; quant à L'Héroïque, elle alternait élans guerriers et voluptueux, marquant avec brio le génie beethovenien. Ne pas rater les quatre dernières symphonies ce soir et demain.
