LECTURE ABOUT THE MUSIC OF LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN IN TAIPEI
June 29, 2002
During the New York Philharmonic's Asian tour in June 2002, Maestro Masur will be giving a lecture on the music of Ludwig van Beethoven to young students from 14-19 years old. The lecture will take place on June 29, 2002 from 10:30–11:30AM in the Small Hall of the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.

That evening Maestro Masur will lead the New York Philharmonic's performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 that will be broadcast live on giant screens via closed circuit TV outside the concert hall. On previous tours when the Maestro's concerts have been shown outside the National Concert Hall in Taipei, audiences of almost 20,000 have gathered in front of the giant screens to watch the concerts.


STUDENT CONCERT IN BRESLAW
April 22, 2002
In April 2002, Maestro Masur returns to his home town region to prepare a concert with the Student Orchestra of the Music Academy Breslaw that will take place at 8:00 PM on April 22, 2002 at the Breslaw Philharmonic Hall. On the program are Beethoven's First Symphony and Brahms' First Symphony. The concert is organized as part of the Breslaw Music Festival "The Understanding" which Maestro Masur helped create in 1991 to create a bridge of understanding between German and Polish people.
